Excellent fit for Holmgren, Panzero, Jafri Smith

After winning the Kansas national title 72-69 against North Carolina, Jayhawks’ Christian Brown and Ochoi Akbaji were instrumental in their 2022 NBA draft role after a strong showing in the men’s NCAA tournament.

The NBA draft still has three months to go, and who will go to No. 1 will depend on the needs of the team. The same three players as Seth Holmkiren, Jabri Smith and Paulo Panchero are in the top spot, and Yahoo Sports is looking for the best matches for each of the top three players.

Magic has a young, talented backcourt with Cole Anthony, Johns Sucks and RJ Hampton, and no one wants to see Magic Draft Holmgreen more than Sucks on his high school team. The pair have been playing together since middle school and the chemistry is already established on the court.

Holmkren’s performance in the tournament received mixed reviews throughout the league – 19 points, 17 rebounds and seven volumes against Georgia, and nine points and nine rebounds before fouling against Memphis – making his diversity undeniable and hard to get to the No. 1 spot. 1 place.

“His looks are not on the table,” an NBA scout told Yahoo Sports. “He’s physically very unique with all the other skills and abilities, and if you want to take that home run swing, he’s absolutely worth it.”

Next Best Landing Place: Oklahoma City Thunder

Despite losing 16-3 to Miami, Smith is far more upside down than any player in this draft class, and his game translates well to the next level. He has more space on the court and is more versatile in crime, highlighting the SEC at 42% of the 3-point shooting percentage.

The rockets are in reconstruction mode and will target the forward or center at the top of the draft after drafting guards John Green and Josh Christopher last year. Houston loves to run for a change, and Smith has the athletic ability to step players on the block or threes in the open field. Rockets fire only 35% off the 3-point range, ranking 20th overall in the NBA.

Next Best Landing Place: Detroit Pistons

Defending the big-and-roll option with Kate Cunningham and Smith will be hard.

During the NCAA tournament, Panchero was sometimes the best player on the court, averaging 19 points and seven rebounds in his last five games. Banzero is comfortable holding the ball in his hands and plays in the Crop and Go style. Kate Cunningham is a great passerby and playmaker for his teammates, and Pancero is 88th, with an average of 1.4 points per possession when cutting the ball, according to Synergy Sports.

Panchero was the driving force behind Duke’s final four runs, dropping shots, throwing laps and no-look passes into the transition, and defending well around the perimeter. He excels at creating division in his shot and mixes his passing and shot selection well. Sometimes in defense, he was hit on the block for the position, and he did not have the lateral agility that the players had in front of them as they went downhill.

Next Best Landing Place: Portland Trail Blazers

The Panzero brings the much-needed size to the track and is a secondary option as a ball handler.
