When Nvidia introduced its RTX 30-Series graphics card in 2020, it felt like the dawn of a new era in high-end PC gaming – with excellent performance at a completely reasonable price. The GPU market became a total mess due to chip shortage, cryptocurrency mining and overall demand exceeding supply. Graphics cards across the spectrum, from budget charges like the RTX 3050 to the dreaded RTX 3090, remain undetectable in the MSRP.

Now the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti promises to be the absolute king of the GPU stack, capable of delivering more impressive frames in 4K and 8K, as well as better-in-class performance for video editing, 3D rendering and more. But the starting price is $ 1,999 – and if anyone can find it on the MSRP – it’s only reserved for those who want to spend the best dollars.

The RTX 3090 Ti is a large graphics card that dwarfs all of its siblings, its predecessor the RTX 3090. At 13.3 inches long and 5.5 inches wide – 2.7 inches thick, it commands three slot position – with little chance of fitting into smaller format factor systems, and some standard This can be a stressful time even for ATX events. The founder version of the 3090 Ti uses a 1×16-pin power connector, a larger version of the 12-pin connector introduced with the RTX 3080 FE. As before, this new port connects to your PSU via a 3×8-pin dongle, which is included in the box. The card is cooled by MSI’s Tri Frozr 2S system, which uses three Torx Fan 4.0s to remove heat. The temperature in my test was 70C – 3090 Ti which is interesting considering how powerful it is. However, it was noticeable that the heat had to go somewhere, and during the benchmarking I could feel the room warming up significantly as hot air blew into the back of our test kit.

We test GPUs using a combination of synthetic and real-world gaming benchmarks. I will compare the RTX 3090 Ti with the 3090 and 3080 Ti, which is by far the most important point for comparing other graphics cards with similar performance and price, as well as the RTX 3080. When it comes to gaming benchmarks, the 3090 Ti gets the crown again. Since these high performance cards are designed for high resolution gaming, I limited my experiment to 4K. As you can see from the chart it again separates the 3090 and 3080 Ti by 10 to 15 percent depending on the game. Compared to the 3090 Ti 3080, the performance gain is close to 30 percent.

Like the RTX 3090, Nvidia claims the 3090 Ti as an 8K gaming capable card. Although I did not have an 8K display to test the native 8K, I rendered in 8K using Nvidia’s dynamic super resolution feature and reduced it to 4K.

Although I still do not recommend playing on 8K you will get a better experience with higher frames in 4K, especially when watching games running with the help of DLSS is even more enjoyable. The improvement over the RTX 3090 is remarkable once again – still about 10 to 15 percent improvement (except for the Gears tricks, which is a hit), but it’s less than a few FPS difference. 8K total framerates.

Of the games I tested, DLSS was only available on Metro: Exodus, so I did not include it in the chart, but on that one game, AI-powered technology raised the frame rate of the 3090 Ti to 38.3 FPS. Reduced the output of the 3090 to 23.5 FPS.

Finally, beyond gaming, it’s worth noting that Nvidia talks about the 3090 Ti for its rendering capabilities. Video editing and 3D modeling is not my specialty, but I ran the Suprim X through some of the same blender tests we used before to standardize the RTX 3090. Again, the 3090 Ti is significantly better than its predecessors. The BMW test shows that the RTX 3090 took 22.9 seconds, while the 3090 Ti Suprim X needed only 9.06 seconds to deliver the same project. On the other hand, fast jobs suffer from declining returns – going from .9 to .85 seconds on the Waspbot test is still an improvement, but you are not really going to notice.
