Former Princess Mako of Japan now volunteers for UNPAID at Met in NYC

Former Japanese Princess Mako is now said to be an unpaid volunteer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

According to the Japan Times, Mako Komuro, 30, works at the Iconic Museum’s Asian Art Collection, helping to put together an exhibition of paintings inspired by the life of a 13th-century monk who introduced Buddhism to Japan.

Luxury in Upper East Side Museum Hells Kitchen is a 10 minute drive from a one bedroom apartment that she shares with her husband and interested lawyer Kee Komuro, 30.

The couple had been engaged for eight years before getting married at a small civil ceremony in Tokyo last October.

Since only male members of the Japanese imperial family were allowed to marry non-members of the royal family, Mako’s decision to marry for love meant that she would no longer be considered a princess and that her future sons would not become emperors.

Mako and Kee met in 2013 while studying at the International Christian University outside Tokyo, where he studied art and cultural heritage. He worked as a Special Researcher at the University Museum of Tokyo.

‘She deserves it and will probably handle the pieces in the collection. In general, this means work that requires a great deal of preparation and often spending a lot of time in the library, ‘said a former med curator about his new kick.

Representatives from the museum did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s questions.

Mako was the daughter of Crown Prince Bumihito and the daughter-in-law of Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

The former princess and Kei Komuro were ‘unofficially’ engaged in 2017 and plan to tie the knot in November 2018.

Initially, the news was welcomed in Japan, but then a scandal developed, with Cai’s widowed mother, Kayo, failing to repay a $ 35,000 loan from an ex-fianc, partly to pay for her son’s tuition fees.

This led to critics commenting that Komuro married the princess only for money or fame.

Comoro released a 24-page description of the money – saying it was a gift, not a loan. Eventually, he said he would return the money, although it was not known if it had been refunded.

Despite the turmoil, Kee and Mako’s romance lasted. In 2020, he appealed to the Japanese public to support his decision to marry a commoner.

Mako’s husband, Kay, is trying to pass the New York State Bar exam to become a lawyer after failing last summer.

He first wrote the exam last July, three months before his marriage to Mako, although it was revealed in November that he had failed.

He was re-elected in February, but the results have not been released.

Komuro’s latest attempt at the bar exam came within a year of his first exam last July, when he had the option to test it remotely.

At this time, applicants have no remote option.

Kei Komuro, 30, tried to become a lawyer and sat for the New York State Bar exam for the second time in February after failing the exam last year.

Like last year, Komuro now faces the pain of waiting months to find out if his second attempt at the exam was successful.

According to Japanese broadcaster NHK, Komuro phoned Okuno Yoshihiko, a lawyer and chairman of a company he had previously worked for in Japan, to report that he had failed the first exam.

If he fails again, Komuro will have to wait until July to write the exam again, which is only offered twice a year.

He can take the exam as many times as he wants until he graduates – because New York State does not restrict the number of attempts a candidate can make.
