- Johnny Depp’s sister Christy Temprovsky testified against Amber Heard in her defamation trial on Tuesday, accusing her of domestic violence.
- Their mother physically abused him and Debbie during their childhood, he testified.
- Depp promised he would not set it up in his own home, his sister said.
One of Johnny Depp’s sisters took a stand at his defamation trial on Tuesday, telling judges he had vowed never to retain it after he was subjected to domestic violence.
Depp’s sister, Christy Tembrowski, testified in Fairfax County Court in Virginia, describing her experience with a mother who was violently “high, nervous,” and often “angry.”
Their mother, Betty Sue Palmer, beat her husband and children frequently, Tembrowski testified. Deb never fought, always trying to “keep the peace”. Years later, they told each other that they would never treat their own families the same.
“As we got older, once we got our own house, we decided we were not going to do anything like our childhood back in our own house,” Tembrowski testified Tuesday afternoon.
Tembrowski, three years older than 58-year-old Debbie, was the first witness to testify at the trial, which began Tuesday with initial statements. Depp filed a lawsuit in 2019 against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who divorced him in 2016, accusing him of defaming her when she described herself as a victim of domestic violence in the 2018 Washington Post edition.
In turn, Heard filed a counter-claim against Depp, alleging that he had beaten her on at least 10 different occasions while she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp’s lawyers have said the claims are fabricated and that Heard was the real culprit in the affair.
He is suing The Sun, a British tabloid, for calling him a “wife beater” based on Herd’s claims. His new lawsuit, filed against Heard in Fairfax County, Virginia, faces lengthy controversy, experts say, as the UK has the most friendly defamation laws for plaintiffs.
But this case is the only way Depp can destroy his name and save his life. The investigation begins as soon as “Wonderful Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” enters theaters. The “Harry Potter” movie was once set to star Deb – he played one of the lead roles in the previous film “The Crimes of Grindelwald” – but in November 2020 Mates Mickelson was replaced. Warner Bros. asked Debbie to resign from the series during the UK trial, and Heard testified against him.
In addition to losing the role of “Fantastic Beasts”, Disney has announced that Depp – one of Hollywood’s most bankrupt stars – has lost a key role in the rights to “Pirates of the Caribbean”, which will be phased out after the release of Hearts Washington. Post-ed. In court, Depp blamed Heard for his career failures.
Under investigation by Depp’s lawyer Benjamin Chiu, Debrovsky said he and Depp’s mother often beat them and threw objects at them. He said that whenever their mother wanted to hit them, she would tell them to pick up a switch that was “nice and green” from a tree outside the house.
“They didn’t break,” Temprovsky said. “If you have a dry one, it will break.”
Temprovsky left home at the age of 17 and testified when he got married and became pregnant. His father left his mother after years of abuse, he said.
“Our dad packed everything one morning and decided to leave early in the morning,” she said. “We didn’t know it at the time.”
Extra hotel room
Years later, Depp took care of their mother. As she was dealing with neurological health issues, Deb moved her to more comfortable homes, took her to medical professionals across the country, and hired private nurses, Debrowski said. While he was out filming, Temprovsky sent him daily notifications about his mother’s health. The two took it to take care of her health, she testified.
“Mom is getting old,” she said.
Deb, Debrovsky says he succeeded in transforming his life and ensuring that there would be no model of domestic violence. He was a devout father.
“Everything in life is about the kids. When he’s with the kids – the attention he gives them, it’s constantly playing with them, listening to them, laughing with them, reading to them. Parties – you name and he was.
When Deb and Heard went together, Debrovsky testified that his mood changed. He appeared “sad,” she said. Deb and Heard often argued, and Debrovsky said he always made sure to book extra hotel room when they traveled together.
“I’ve seen it happen again and again in life. When we were kids, when arguments and fights started to happen, our first thing was to hide and get away from it,” Temprovsky said. “I wanted to make sure he had a place where he could do it, because I recognized what he felt like a model again from his childhood.”
Hart – who was in his 20s during the relationship – mocked Depp and called him “an old fat man”. When Dior told Deb Heard that Dior wanted to campaign with her, Debrovsky said her reaction was “distrust and hatred.”
“She said, ‘Dior? Why does Dior want to do business with you? They’ re about class, they’m about style, you have no style, ‘” Temprovsky said. “It’s a shame – take that one moment, there’s that shame. I’ve seen the insults many times.”
